Understanding the SSC CGL 2026 | Exam Scheme

The examination will be conducted in a Computer-Based mode spanning two strict stages: Tier-I and Tier-II.

Tier-I Examination (Qualifying in Nature)

The Tier-I exam features 100 multiple-choice questions across four sections, with a total time limit of 1 hour (featuring a strict 15-minute sectional timer for each subject).

Caution: There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Tier-I.

• General Intelligence & Reasoning: 25 Questions (50 Marks)
• General Awareness: 25 Questions (50 Marks)
• Quantitative Aptitude: 25 Questions (50 Marks)
• English Comprehension: 25 Questions (50 Marks)

Tier-II Examination (Merit Deciding)

Tier-II includes Paper-I (compulsory for all posts), Paper-II (for JSO), and Paper-III (for AAO).

• Paper-I is divided into mathematically focused sections, English & General Awareness sections, a Computer Knowledge Test, and a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST).
• It is mandatory for candidates to qualify for all sections of Paper-I separately.
• Negative marking in Tier-II is sharper: 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer in Paper-I sections.
